Cybertruck Recall Chaos: Tesla’s ‘Indestructible’ Pickup Undone by Glue

Date:

Light Bar of Doom

Tesla has issued a recall for more than 6,000 Cybertrucks after identifying a potential issue with the vehicle’s distinctive front LED light bar. This comes after a recall was issued earlier this month for the park lamps being too bright. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the light bar may loosen, vibrate, or detach completely while driving.

The issue stems from the use of an incorrect surface primer during assembly, which can weaken the adhesive bond securing the component. Affected vehicles may exhibit a visible gap between the light bar and the windshield or produce a rattling noise at speed.

What Trucks Are Hit?

Roughly 6,200 Cybertrucks from the 2024 model year are being recalled for a loose front light bar. Built between November 2023 and November 2024, the affected trucks fall under recall code SB-25-90-001.

Owners may notice a visible gap between the light bar and the windshield, or feel the light strip move slightly when pressed. Some have also reported a faint buzzing sound from the area while driving. Tesla says the issue doesn’t pose an immediate safety risk and is unrelated to the Model 3 and Model Y power-related recall issued earlier this month.

What Happens Next?

Tesla will inspect and secure the light bars for free, adding extra mechanical attachments if necessary. So your rolling bunker will once again be able to keep its dramatic headlamp fashion statement attached.

Owners will begin receiving official notification letters on December 26, outlining inspection and repair procedures. Until then, Tesla advises drivers to monitor their vehicles for any signs of separation or vibration from the front light bar.
